Sukkertoppen

Sukkertoppen means sugar top, or sugar loaf, and as a result belongs to a fairly inclusive club that includes an awful lot of similarly named mountains around the world. This one is about 1000' high and is the highest point on the island of Hessa, which is basically the westernmost part of Ålesund.

After looking west out over the city from Fjellstua on Mount Aksla in the morning, this gave us a great view from the other direction in the afternoon (I guess I just don't like the sun in my eyes). We only hiked up as far as the radio tower, where we hung out and watched a video crew with big cameras and a drone shooting a commercial. If you see a Gore Tex ad with Ålesund in the background sometime in the next few months, look for M and I sitting on the rocks!
