Fjellstua
A short walk through town leads to the base of the path to Fjellstua, which looks out over Ålesund from the shoulder of Mount Aksla. The sign said 418 steps and M insisted on counting them all. Fortunately, the steps were occasionally numbered. And more fortunately, they were correct, since I wasn't sure I wanted to go back down and check their math.
The views were spectacular, both of the city itself and of the surrounding landscape. We were able to see Sukkertoppen, where we would head next (left of center in the top photo), and Godøya, an island offshore to which we would drive (via tunnel) later in the day (distant right in the top photo).
