The fish market at the inner end of the Vågen Harbor is at street level of a new, architecturally interesting building that houses the tourist information center upstairs. The market seemed to be more about putting on a colorful display of seafood for the tourists than being a practical trading place for selling fresh fish right off the boats, but it was still a neat place to wander through.
This belongs to a category of outdoor markets that seem designed for those of us who can't put down our cameras. I should have a tag on the blog for markets, just to capture places like Richmond Country Farms or the Saturday Market in Ganges. It wasn't quite the same experience as Pike Place Market in Seattle, but it certainly offered some interesting variety.
Maybe we should have tried the deep maroon-colored whale meat.
