New York Harbor
It seemed pretty touristy and it ate up several hours, but we decided to try the Circle Line tour around the island. For me it was a wonderful way to check out the shoreline, to get a sense of the city and its geography, to learn some New York history, and to admire its bridges and decaying piers and spectacular buildings. I think M enjoyed it. D occasionally looked up, but probably wished he was back in the hotel room watching TV or in Washington Square playing speed chess.
In 2003, we went out to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty, but this time we settled for passing views.
