Doonbeg

Okay. I couldn't resist this one! The biggest problem was whether to include it here or over on Gravel Beach, but I decided to put it in both places, probably with some overlap in pictures.

Once upon a time, there was a beach and some sand dunes. This is Ireland so, of course, someone built a golf course in the dunes. Then they built a hotel called the Lodge at Doonbeg. Then a few years back, a wealthy (we're not sure how wealthy) American tycoon bought the place and renamed it - after himself, to be consistent with his ego and his brand. I'm sure it's quite nice.

We just walked down the public access next door and looked at the beach. And peaked over the top of the dune. We didn't go in and ask about the prices. I brought home the golf ball.
