Bellingham

Last year, we took our Moms on a day trip to Whidbey Island (apparently it didn't result in a blog post). This year, we tried Bellingham. It was a lot of driving on a warm day, but no one complained. The route and the stops were all pretty familiar to me, and some were familiar to M. I suspect Claire and Alison had also been some of these places before, but not as recently.

The Colophon remains a good place for lunch in Fairhaven. Chuckanut Drive is always neat, even when it's hot and smoke is making the air quality terrible. The more distant islands and the mountains were barely visible. We drove the loop through Washington Park and then ate dinner in downtown Anacortes. I took everyone up to Cap Sante before we finally headed back south.
