Monona Terrace

Our weekend in Madison included a brief walk through the Monona Terrace Convention Center. I'd like to come back on a nicer day when there's a little more activity. And when I have more time to explore the building and the nearby shoreline.

Conceived by Frank Lloyd Wright just before the breakout of World War II, the project apparently kept getting put aside for one reason or another for almost 60 years. It was finally built and completed in 1997! -- a relatively new building, but still based on Wright's original concept.

Monona Terrace History

Downtown Madison and the state capitol are built on a narrow isthmus between Lake Mendota on the north and Lake Monona on the south.
